The Return of the Dead

Hi guys this is Phil Evangelinos and this is another video on the Sunday morning program of the "Pursue Peace" Assembly, and as you saw...

In the final part of the Sunday morning session of the "Pursue Peace" Assembly we are introduced to a post apocalyptic depiction of a group of Jehovah’s Witnesses sat around a table in the New System retelling their stories of how they pursued peace back in the days before the Great Tribulation. One of them is Joseph of the Old Testament!

This is not surprising , this idea of people being resurrected progressively into the 1000 years of Christ's reign, including Old Testament characters, is not new, it has been part of jw folklore for over 100 years since the days of Judge Rutherford and his now infamous Beth Sarim villa.

Back in 1929 and 15 years into his tenure as the second president of the Watchtower Judge Rutherford decided to build a villa in

San Diego, California and get the Witnesses to pay for it with their donations. In order to do this he introduced a new teaching of the earthly resurrection being iminent and the arrival of the Old Testament characters was expected at any moment, for that reason a suitable accommodation was needed, and that's how Beth Sarim was introduced to the faithful. Of course these ancient characters never turned up to ask for accommodation and Judge Rutherford looked after it for them, living in the lap of luxury in a great mansion for the remaining of his life. What a con artist!

After his death the Watchtower tried hard to erase that embarrassing episode from their history but nevertheless the idea of Old Testament characters being resurrected on earth and spending time with the "great crowd" retelling stories from their lifetime became part of jw

Folklore. If you do yearn for the time where you will be sitting around that table eating and drinking sometime in the 1000 years I want you to slowly and permanently erase this thought, because that will never happen in the Millennium. Its a false teaching that has been ingrained in us by years of relentless indoctrination. In fact it is one of the easiest jw teachings to debunk since it is there in the Bible in black and white.

There is no earthly resurrection in the thousand years. In fact the Bible speaks of 2 resurrections, one that takes place before the great tribulation and one that happens after the 1000 years BUT the Bible never teaches of any resurrection during the 1000 years. Let's read this in Revelation 20:

And I saw thrones, and those who sat on them were given authority to judge. Yes, I saw the souls of those executed for the witness they gave about Jesus and for speaking about God, and those who had not worshipped the wild beast or its image and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand. And they came to life and ruled as kings with the Christ for 1,000 years. 5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the 1,000 years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. 6 Happy and holy is anyone having part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no authority, but they will be priests of God and of the Christ, and they will rule as kings with him for the 1,000 years.

So there are 2 resurrections, one that take place before the 1000 years and it is the heavenly resurrection and the other as the verse says will take place AFTER the 1000 years and is an earthly reassurection, the one where Joseph gets to come back from the dead, there is nothing in between. If you want to know more about these 2 resurrections look out for my " NEW LIGHT" series that returns this September where I explained this teaching in detail.

In the main time instead of waiting in anticipation to meet Noah,Joseph Abraham or other Old Testament something that the Bible never really makes mention in detail there is someone that wants to meet with in the first ressurection that takes place before the Great Tribulation. We read 1 Thessalonians 4:17:

Afterward we the living who are surviving will, together with them, be caught away in clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and thus we will always be with the Lord

This is the ressurection you should concern yourself with and not some fantasy concorted by the writing department of the Watchtower.

With that in mind this is my take on this final part of the assembly and the Watchtower's take on earthly ressurection.
